CKAN - Research Data Management

CKAN (Comprehensive Knowledge Archive Network) is an open-source data management system that empowers universities, research institutions, and governments worldwide to efficiently manage and share research data.

With CKAN, users can deposit, describe, and access data in a standardized and discoverable way, facilitating the seamless exchange of information and promoting the dissemination of research findings through publication. One of the key benefits of CKAN is its ease of use, allowing researchers to focus on their work without the burden of complex data management. Moreover, the platform enables collaboration among researchers, fostering a culture of sharing and co-creation of knowledge, and ultimately accelerating the pace of scientific discovery and innovation through the free exchange of ideas and data.

Our university's instance of CKAN stands out for its exceptional handling of large datasets in the TByte range, making it an ideal solution for researchers working with massive data sets, such as those in fields like genomics, climate science, or materials research.

CDM - One tool to move them all

CDM is our tool, that is designed to move all data you have to CKAN and back. The application works across all operating systems, uploads it in parallel and compresses the data in flight.

AppHub - Strongly linked with CKAN

AppHub: A Scalable Platform for Researchers and Students AppHub is an in-house developed, cloud-based platform that enables researchers and students to quickly start and manage digital work environments, simplify their workflows, and accelerate their projects. By using AppHub, researchers can save costs for infrastructure, management, and server operation. Resources are shared among all users, thus benefiting not only one working group but all.
